2010 Quail Series Gewürztraminer
Since the release of the 1982 vintage, Covey Run has crafted high quality, price worthy wines from Washington's Columbia River Valley, wines that have been embraced by consumers and journalists alike.
Led by winemaker Kate Michaud, Covey Run's portfolio includes delicious wines for every occasion, from stylish entertaining, to casual gatherings and picnics with family and friends.
Harvest & Winemaking
Washington's 2010 vintage was quite atypical. It was challenging for both grape growers and winemakers. The cool weather in March and April delayed bud break one week later than normal. The summer months never received the blazing hot weather that is typical in Eastern Washington growing regions, so the grapes were slow to ripen. The exceptionally cool spring and summer, followed by an early fall and frost actually favored the development of our fruit for a low alcohol, spectacular, bright white wine.
Floral and aromatic in the nose with flavors of lychee, rose, and sugared pear on the palate. This is the perfect wine to quaff ice cold on the patio on a sunny afternoon. It is made with early consumption in mind, and best enjoyed while young.
Food Pairing Suggestions
The Covey Run 2010 Quail Series Gewürztraminer can be enjoyed on its own or with a wide array of foods. We above all like pairing this wine with spicy foods and Asian cuisine as it cools the heat of the food and complements the intense and exotic flavors.
